About Jamie’s Farm

Jamie’s Farm exists to transform the lives of hard to reach children in challenging urban schools, by providing a unique combination of ‘farming, family and therapy’ through a short stay residential and follow up programme. We aim to re-engage children with educational life, and enable them to fulfil their potential both in school and the wider social setting.

Position Summary

We are seeking a practical and proactive Visit Coordinator who will work on visit delivery and logistics based at Jamie’s Farm, just outside of Bath. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to serve an active role in our work with vulnerable children.

Major responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Delivery of 3 visits a month, including:
* specific farm responsibility, and daily farm activities with children
* contribution to farm life including daily walks and meal preparation
* planning and delivering evening enrichment activities with children
* participation in, and leading of Jamie’s Farm group sessions
* timetabling of visits
* liaison with visiting staff on site, including daily check ins
* surveying all staff and children on site

2. Visit coordination (sometimes remotely) 1 week a month, including:
* school communication in preparation for visits
* leading 3 follow up sessions a month in schools
* managing year-long data collection process from visiting schools
* maintaining relationships, and developing relationships with new clients
* presenting to potential clients, and at conferences (Teach First, Future Leaders etc)

3. Other responsibilities as appropriate, including:
* being on call (for animal emergencies!) one weekend a month
* contribution to Jamie’s Farm annual events eg Cock and Bull festival, Bath Half Marathon, Spring Fling, Open Afternoon
* meeting local and national supporters on site
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree required
* Minimum 2 years professional experience in working with vulnerable or challenging children
* Experience working in social work, therapeutic community or educational setting
* Prior experience working in challenging secondary school setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

* Interest and enthusiasm for living and working in a rural setting
* Interest in the benefits of education beyond the classroom, especially for vulnerable groups
* Ability to exemplify Jamie’s Farm core values of respect, empathy, nurture and family
* Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the Jamie’s Farm mission
* Strong analytic and organisational skills
* Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse individuals, and to influence and motivate others
* Ability to contribute to wider vision, strategy and goals of an ambitious, professional and unique charity
* Sensitivity to racial, cultural and ideological diversity
* Strong work ethic and ability to share this with children
