This Sunday, Nov 4, 60 Minutes will broadcast “The Ivory War” on CBS Television and on the Internet (link below).
This story takes us on a special journey to see giant herds of elephants and to witness the war being waged over their tusks.
The broadcasters travel to Chad in Central Africa, a lawless region where tens of thousands of elephants are being killed by poachers to fuel the international ivory trade.
Riding with intrepid rangers whose jobs are to protect the elephant herds, and a rare interview with poachers being held in a Chadian jail is filmed.
Scott Pelley is the correspondent; Jenny Dubin and Solly Granatstein are the producers.
The story will go up on the web immediately after the TV broadcast finishes.
